Books by Norm

Norm published four books.

His first solo project was Whiskey, Whiskey, Papa - written in 1998. The book chronicles the exciting life and times of a pilot's pilot - Weldy Phipps. Norm contracted the printing to a local company and was promptly shipped many boxes of books as he was also the distributor. This book is out of print.

Altimeter
Rising was co-written with Alan MacNutt in 2000. There were no boxes of books every delivered to the house, so we assume Alan did not know better and took on the task of printing and distribution.

In 2009, having learned from doing the printing and distribution of a book himself, Norm self published Spartan - Seven Letters That Spanned the Globe using an Internet-based self-publishing site called lulu.com. Spartan was an early force in mapping the earth using planes. The paperback can be purchased here and the ebook here

In 2011, he published Mayhem to Mayday - the two wars of Andy MacKenzie, DFC. It is a biography - the life and times of a heroic pilot. The paperback is available here and an ebook is in development.

His author's page at lulu can be found at http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/norman_avery.

Norm was a prolific fiction writer, but never quite polished any book well enough to publish in his opinion. Who knows - a book of his short stories might still happen and perhaps Whiskey, Whiskey, Papa might get a second edition as there is demand for this book.

Happy reading!

  1. Hello. I am looking for a copy of Whiskey Whiskey Papa after having it reccommended to me by a friend but he no longer has his copy and I am having trouble finding a copy. If anyone has suggestions as where to find one that would be appreciated. Thank you.

  2. WWP is no longer in print. However, we may be able to find something. Are looking for an ebook, or perhaps a PDF? If you are looking for an actual book, where are you located?

My apologies for the late response - I did respond earlier, but it seems to have not been posted for some reason.
